Purpose
The above excerpt is taken from the “Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” The actual enthronement ceremony and blessing are first performed in your home, by a priest, with the family present. It is then recited weekly by the family, traditionally on Friday evening. The Enthronement service and weekly Consecration are available on your left.
This form was approved by St. Pius X on May 19th, 1908 and is required as such to gain the indulgences. Thus, it cannot be modified. It is recited kneeling by both the priest and the family. If a priest is not present, it is led by the head of the household.
Once a staple of Catholic life, this and other Catholic devotions seem to have been forgotten.
For example, do you remember the incomparable promise made by Our Lady: “to all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months fulfill all the conditions requested;
1. Attend Holy Mass on the first Saturday of five consecutive months
2. Confession (at least monthly)
3. The Communion of Reparation on the First five Saturdays
4. Recitation of the Rosary (daily)
5. The fifteen minute Meditation on the Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary (daily)
“I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their soul.”
She made this promise without any exclusion, limitation, or restriction: Simply “To all those who…, I promise…”
Or, the first nine Fridays devotion to make reparation for the outrages offered to Christ in the past, as well as for those which he daily receives in the Blessed Eucharist.
1. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
2. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
3. Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
4. Act of Reparation
5. The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
6. The Sacrament of Reconciliation
The benefit to you and your family? Here are the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
1. “I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.”
2. “I will establish peace in their homes.”
3. “I will comfort them in their afflictions.”
4. “I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all in death.”
5. “I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.”
6. “Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.”
7. “Tepid souls shall grow fervent.”
8. “Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.”
9. “I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.”
10. “I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.”
11. “Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.”
12. “I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”
The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in our homes and the first 5 Saturdays and first 8 Fridays devotions are only three of many marks of Catholic family life lost to us in the past 45 years since Vatican II.
This forum is intended to help us renew that past faith and offer a place where we can carry on a discussion regarding our own individual struggle to find the Truth.
What does the Church really teach? What has She said consistently over the past 2000 years through the Doctors, Saints and the Magesterium?
Think of Catholic Proofs Forum as the arena where we can discuss the relevant documents and writings of the Church Fathers, Doctors and Saints. A place where we can ask our best questions and then search out the answers in those sound documents and writings.
Hopefully, through this forum, we will learn to strengthen one another in exactly how we, as faithful Catholics, can and should answer the questions, even attacks, of protestants, muslims, buddhists and all enemies of the Holy Catholic Church.
“Catholic doctrine tells us that the primary duty of charity does not lie in the toleration of false ideas, however sincere they may be, nor in the theoretical or practical indifference towards the errors and vices in which we see our brethren plunged . . . Further, whilst Jesus was kind to sinners and to those who went astray, He did not respect their false ideas, however sincere they might have appeared. He loved them all, but He instructed them in order to convert them and save them.” - Pope St. Pius X, Our Apostolic Mandate, August 25, 1910.
